Hay muchísimos festivales increíbles alrededor del mundo, pero sin duda, el mejor, al menos al que yo he ido, es Coachella.

La vibra es padrísima, todo el mundo está en paz, y además van bandas impresionantes. Si no has ido, ir al menos una vez debe de ser parte de tu bucketlist, y si planeas ir, aquí te dejamos unos tips para primerizos.

There's a lot of awesome festivals all over the world, but without a doubt, the best one I've gone to is Coachella. The vibe is amazing, everyone is super chill, and the bands that play are top notch. If you haven't gone to at least one edition, you should definitely put it on your bucket list, and if you are already planning to go, here are some tips for first-timers.

1. Llega a LA o a San Diego en avión y luego renta un coche/ Arrive by plane to LA or San Diego, and rent a car

Los vuelos a San Diego y Los Ángeles suelen ser relativamente baratos, por lo que compra uno hacia allí, y después renta un coche para un camino hacia Indio de más o menos dos horas desde cada uno de estos puntos. Un vuelo más hacia Palm Springs, suele aumentar el precio hasta más del doble, ya que el aeropuerto es pequeño y salen pocos vuelos; por lo que es súper innecesario. Además, los ubers son carísimos por lo que rentar un coche te saldrá más barato que andar pidiendo taxis y ubers 24/7.

San Diego or LA flights are usually cheap from Mexico, so it's better to buy one to one of these two airports, and then to rent a car to Indio, since it's approximately 2hrs away from each arrival point. One more flight to Palm Springs, may double up the cost of your flight, since because it's a small airport, few flights arrive. Besides, Ubers and taxis are way more expensive than in Mexico, so renting a car will be a way cheaper option.

2. Protégete del sol/ Protect yourself from sunrays

Amiga, estas en medio del Mojave, por lo que más quieras ponte bloqueador. Además, huméctate y aplícate crema todas las veces que puedas. El sol es terrible en la piel, más en un ambiente tan seco, por lo que si no quieres acabar con la piel achicharrada, o en el peor caso si tienes piel sensible hasta con quemaduras graves, protégete.

Girl, you are in the middle of the Mojave desert, for the love of god, use sun block! Besides that, moisturize your skin and apply cream anytime you can. The sun is awful for your skin, and even more in such a dry climate, so if you do not want to end with charred skin, or in the worst case for sensitive skins, with dangerous sunburns, take care of yourself.

3. Planea tus outfits desde antes/ Plan your outfits ahead

Vas un fin de semana nadamás, por lo que es súper recomendable empacar ligero. Busca en tiendas y en línea ropa que te guste, y piensa en tus tres outfits ideales, al fin y al cabo Coachella igual es conocido por ser el festival más top en cuanto viene a moda. Inspírate en otros años, cowboys, hippies, y básicamente en cualquier cosa que quieras. En Coachella ningún outfit es un mal outfit.

You are going only for a weekend, so it's super recommendable to pack lightly. Look through shops and online for clothes you like beforehand, and pick your three ideal Coachella outfits; after all, Coachella is known for being a fashion festival. Get inspiration from past editions, cowboys, hippies, or basically anything you like. In Coachella, no outfit is a bad one.

4. Ve con una buena banda de amigos/ Go with a great group of friends

No hay nada mejor que Coachella con una buena banda de amigos. Planeenlo desde antes, renten una casa y vayan todos juntos. Se lo pasaran increíble, y nunca habrá problemas con que alguien se quede solo.

There's nothing better than going with a great group of friends to Coachella. Plan it beforehand, rent a house, and go all together. You will have an amazing time, and there's never going to be the problem of someone being left alone.

5. Precopea antes/ Pregame

20 usd por un drink es bastante, por lo que la mejor opción es precopear antes de ir. Arma una carne asada con tus amigos a mediodía con drinks y chelas, y pásenselo bomba desde antes de llegar. Así, cuando lleguen a Coachella no tendrán por qué comprar tantos drinks, y así la cartera no sufrirá tanto.

20usd for a drink is kind of a lot, so the best option is to pregame before getting to the festival. Have a poolside barbecue with friends around midday with some drinks and beers, and start having fun before getting there. Like this, you won't have to buy that many drinks at the festival, and your wallet won't take such a big hit.
